Structural polypropylene (macro) fibers reinforced concrete

LFHCM-1401

It is a concrete that contains in its composition structural polypropylene (macro) fibers of high performance that have been dosed in the concrete plant, thus it is delivered as a ready mixed concrete to the job site. This concrete has an homogenous mix, a guaranteed dosage of fibers, optimally distributed in the mass of the concrete. The macro fibers can have different dimensions, their length varying between 12-50mm – the appropriate length is chosen considering the aggregate’s maximum size. Using macro fibers in the concrete may result in a partial or, sometimes, even total replacement of the traditional reinforcement as it ensures an uniform mass reinforcement. • Some of the most important benefits of the polypropylene (macro) fibers reinforced concrete: durability increase • impact and abrasion resistance increase • increase of tensile and flexural strength • higher fire resistance – the macro fibers reducing the risc of concrete spalling at high temperatures. The selection of the type of fibers to be used is made based on loads. Some types of fibers can help reducing the plastic cracking and, consequently, reducing the surface permeability.
